"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony" ~Mahatma Ghandhi

The practices of yoga are vast and varied by tradition, providing tools for addressing whatever motivates you to "the mat." Whether you come to a practice to heal, to learn, to achieve, to find peace, or just out of sheer curiosity, there is a roadmap waiting for you. As an ancient and holistic method for achieving wholeness, yoga heals and reveals on all levels so you will experience growth in many facets of your life.

Many of us come to yoga by way of "the mat". Generally speaking (there are always exceptions), anything that "moves" (asanas/poses) is Hatha Yoga. Hatha is somatic; an inclusive body-mind experience of our multi-dimensional being. Classically, it is a practice of purifying the physical, energetic and mental bodies to harness vital energy in preparation for higher levels of consciousness to be traversed and maintained, all toward the eventual goal of Self-realization (enlightenment). There are many styles, names and lineages of Hatha yoga on a continuum of classical to modern interpretation  – ashtanga, vinyasa, restorative, power, hot, laughter, et al. – and they are rooted in this concept of purification and preparation, though sometimes the original spiritual purpose may not be apparent. The beauty in this diversity is that yoga meets you where you are and, with the ingredient of willingness, partners with you to do what it was designed to do: inspire union with our deeper sense of self, our True Nature.

"Life sleeps in the crude earth, dreams beauty in the flowers, wakes with power in the animals, and in man has consciousness of infinite possibilities." ~ Paramahansa Yogananda

'Roots' Hatha Yoga Classes

Deeply inspired by the ongoing process of embodiment through the lens of somatic-focused Hatha Yoga and Tantrik and Vedantic philosophy, the classes I teach aim to awaken, navigate and re-pattern the stories within that write our lives. These stories are alive in our bodies as much as our minds. As we open to deeper acceptance of self (known, unknown and emerging), more inner resources become available in each moment, cultivating alignment with authenticity and fertile ground for creating our life from a space potent with choice. We engage sensation awareness, education, curiosity, compassion, honest and mindful self-witnessing through classical yoga techniques for harnessing and directing prana (life-force) like asana (poses), pranayama (breathwork), mudra, and mantra.

Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundayei Vichey Swaha
Om shanti shanti shanti
May all that does not serve you fall away,
may you have compassion for all parts of yourself,
may you surrender into wisdom,
may you open to extraordinary possibilities of transformation,
may you choose to light up in your life.
Om peace peace peace
